Carly's First Day of School

It's official! Carly is now back in preschool! She has had a great two days and looking forward to many fun times to come. Her favorite part so far is snack time because she has gotten grape juice - something she never gets at home. :)

Playing in the Rain

In between Saturday Sessions of General Conference we got to go outside and play in a very RARE California rain storm. The girls had a blast. Anna keeps asking me when it is going to rain so they can play outside again. A little more rain would definitely be nice...

Jog-a-thon

Anna got to participate in her first jog-a-thon. She was really excited. I was totally unaware of what was going to happen. I thought it would be a little more rigorous but they did a few stretches and ran a little then it was over! Stretching with her teacher Mrs. Celic.

Running some laps.
A class picture.
They had water bottles out for parents and other kids to squirt the runners. Carly thought this was great!

Like Father Like Son

McKay decided to have his Sunday nap a little early last Sunday... right during Sunday School! I wasn't there to witness it but a friend of ours took this picture with his cell phone (Thanks Tyler!) McKay claims he wasn't asleep for long but he sure looks comfy. It is hilarious that the people next to him are being so studious and he is KO'ed! Classic...

The two-wheel rider

First Tooth Gone!

Anna lost her first tooth on Saturday! Needless to say this wasn't without a lot of drama! She game running in the house a couple of days ago crying that her tooth was bleeding. After a little inspection we discovered a loose tooth! She calmed down and did pretty good but wouldn't let anyone touch it for days. Finally she got sick of it and let McKay pull it out. I was not sad to miss it! Definitely a job for dads! I am glad I don't have to cut everything in miniscule bits now. The tooth fairly also caused some tears. Anna wanted her to come but was a little freaked out that some fairy was going to be in her room in the middle of the night! Carly didn't want her to come either and said for me to tell the tooth fairy not to bug the bottom bunk - only the top bunk where Anna was. All this for a dumb dollar! I was ready to just tell them she was fake and it is just dad! Anna was excited this morning though. Ya! One down ???? to go...

Happy Birthday Carly!

Talk about getting the most of your birthday - Carly had 5 parties.

Ironically, Carly's birthday (we had to call it her "real" birthday) was on Anna's first day of school. Needless to say we were exhausted by the end of the day, physically and emotionally. Carly had a great birthday! She got a barbie car, some barbies, a pretty princess game, baseball and bat, towel, polly pockets, and new clothes. Ya, she got a lot of stuff. She had a great birthday! We even got to go outside after dinner and Carly ran down the street to show us how much faster she is now as a 4 year old. She is convinced she is bigger too (at four you want to weigh more and be taller) so she has officially moved from a car seat to a booster only. We had kept the booster for use in Dad's car and her seat in the van, but things have changed around here now. Don't blink that may be our little Carly Cars running right past you now. -- Have a happy 4th year Cars!

This is a princess Mia birthday cake. Both the girls are also loving wearing their new clothes here. Note Dad wearing Carly's favorite shirt. She picks this for Dad to wear all the time.
Dad being a good sport playing the Pretty Pretty Princess game.
Aunt Rachel was amazing and planned Carly's Princess Mia party. They had so much fun!The rough life of a princess getting her pedicure.
Blowing out her candles. Love ya Carly! Thanks again Rachel.

A Happy Sad Day

Here is our sweet Anna on her first day of school! She was REALLY excited to wear her new clothes. She had a great day. She was really brave until the last 20 seconds when the teacher said to wave goodbye and she started crying. I gave her a quick hug and sent her back in line to go inside. She ran back one more time but then went inside. I had a friend check on her and she said she was doing ok - not crying anymore. I was a mess! I had to get out of there quick. She said she had lots of fun. She hasn't had any more tears, just a little apprehensive. She has made some friends and loves recess (swinging) and computer lab. She doesn't like having to eat lunch at 11:00 am but other than that really likes afternoon Kindergarten. Carly is a little sad and is looking forward to preschool starting. The time goes by really slow but it is starting to pick up a little. We miss her but are so happy for her and her new days as a Kindergartener!

Visit from Grandma

We were lucky enough to have Grandma come and visit us for almost a whole week! We were busy but busy playing and having fun (most of the time...except when we had to can peaches! Sorry mom, but thanks for helping.)
We had a little pre-birthday party for Carly. Grandma bought her some shoes and a baby that really swims.
The girls got to have sleepovers downstairs with Grandma. The Olympics were on so we spent a lot of time watching TV.
Thanks for coming to visit. It was really sad when she had to leave. The week went by too fast!

Beach Fun

This is a 4 or 5-yr-olds version of boogie boarding. Stand on your boogie board and let the waves come to you. Then try to stay standing when the waves recede.
Surprisingly it can provide hours of fun!
Mac playing at the beach. There was tons of seaweed that day. As Anna said, "these weeds are disgusting!"
There is nothing like a good thumb suck with sand at the beach.
