Cozumel

On Tuesday we decided to be adventurous and take a trip to Cozumel. We decided to do it on our own rather than go through the hotel. We ended up saving a lot of money but it was a tad stressful - I don't recommend doing anything like that unless someone is fluent in Spanish. Here we are on the ferry to Cozumel. Melinda loaned me the hat and it was a very cute hat but I just could not take myself seriously in it! I could only wear it for a while because I just felt like I was 'hat girl' or something. We didn't know if we would be able to find a place to change into our swimming suits so we wore our suits down there. I didn't like the idea of being in a wet bathing suit but didn't know what else to do. The cute hat that looked hilarious on me.
We decided to play Harry and Lloyd and ride around the island on a moped. We couldn't stop laughing about how 'dumb' we felt. That baby went up to 80 km/hr. It was fun but my bootie was pretty sore by the time we were done. We found a bathroom along the way but had to buy something in order to use it so we had some cokes and totally nasty chips and salsa on the beach. Oh and we also got seriously rained on - all part of the experience.

This is McKay's favorite pose can you tell? He tried to wear Dodgers or BYU paraphernalia every day so in case anyone was from LA or LDS they would recognize him. We are so different sometimes - I just want to blend in and not have anyone notice me (another reason I couldn't wear the hat.)

It was a super fun day! On the bus ride home they showed 'HITCH' in Spanish. Apparently it is funnier in Spanish because McKay was belly rolling the entire way home. Wasn't quite as funny for me...

Puerto Morelos

On Monday we went to this little fishing town called Puerto Morelos to go snorkeling. I am really not a snorkeler but apparently you can't pass up snorkeling in the second largest coral reef in the world. I must admit it was pretty amazing. The water was warm and the fish were beautiful. We were wishing we had an underwater camera. McKay was a little bummed out we had to wear life jackets but I thought it was great since the coral was sometimes only a couple of feet from the surface.
Post snorkeling with our guide Philipe.

We ate the best grouper (my new favorite kind of fish) after snorkeling. It was a fun day and definitely improved my feelings toward snorkeling.

Tennis

We played tennis three different times in Cancun. When we saw the courts from our room it looked like they were grass, which made us super excited to play since neither of us have ever played on grass, but when we got down there we found out they were turf with sand. Maybe meant to be like grass? Anyway, I don't recall ever sweating so much playing tennis but it was super fun. We played a set each time we played. It may not seem like very much but both of our philosophies were 'just keep hitting it back until the other person messes up.' That made for some really long points and games. It ended up 6-4 (I won) 6-3 (he won - I was slightly irritated) 5-5 (we had to call it because of rain.) We didn't want to stop but it was a complete downpour - we could barely see. We decided we definitely need to play tennis some more. I was pretty sore but it was tons of fun!

Cancun

We finally did it! We have been talking about going on a big trip for our 10 year anniversary for like 10 years! Haha. We were lucky enough to have some awesome, wonderful, amazing people take care of our kids so it made it so easy to go. Even though I was still hesitant about leaving them, I knew they would be in great hands. Melinda came for the first 5 days and then Rachel and Grandma took over. The kids had a party every night. Apparently even Brad was good. (What?) After arriving in Cancun we had to run and get in the ocean - it just looked too tempting! The water is amazing! Warmer than our swimming pool! This is the view from our room.

On Sunday we tried to find church, which we eventually did like 45 minutes late. Luckily it went about 20 minutes over so we still caught 45 minutes of sacrament meeting. We knew we were in the right area we (when I say we I mean McKay - I don't really speak Spanish) kept asking people and no one knew where it was! Not a good sign for the church but we were later assured by the missionaries that Cancun is growing great. Eventually we found it after walking down some streets I would be ok NEVER walking down again. I heard the phrase 'this is so much like my mission' numerous times.

This street is good - we didn't dare take our camera out on the 'not good' streets.
It was a very nice building in the mist of lots of not nice buildings. Apparently that is how it is a lot. By the time we got there we were very hot from all of our walking in circles in 90+ degrees with 100 percent humidity. I am pretty sure every night in my prayers I said I was greatful for air conditioning.

Last Day of Vacation!

We hit up a little funtown called Boomers before we headed back up north. Lazertag - like 900 degrees inside the tent! Luckily I was on Brad duty outside.

Even I love a good game of Skee Ball. Carly wanted to have McKay play all of her tokens so she could get more tickets.

Ahhh the driving games. Still fun even when I drive all the time!

Love that Mac can drive without quarters - only for a little while longer - he was asking questions this time! He had his tongue out so he could drive faster.
It was such a fun vacation - the events were fun but the company was the best!

La Jolla Beach

We decided to head for a nice beach and ended up at La Jolla beach. The water was relatively 'warm.' I am coming around a little on the beach. It was a pretty relaxing day. The kids could just play for hours and hours.

Legoland!

We had a great time with the Fishers in Legoland! Lucky for us they drove to us. We only had to drive 3 hours. It was a beautiful day and so much fun - we got there when it opened and left when it closed.
Anna is Miss Brave on all the rides. She puts her hands up the whole time.

They rode down these slides about 15 times. They were super fun.

Brad did great and didn't get lost so we feel pretty good about his Legoland experience.

Mac was super brave too. He would go on anything. Here he is after a water ride a little wet but happy.

Legoland was a blast! Thanks for the fun times!

A little bit of Brad

Brad is a bundle of fun. He doesn't know too many words but he knows how to scream. He loves when Anna and Carly swing him. He lays on the ground and lifts his feet up and screams till they come pick him up.
His goofey grins. He can say 'cheese.'

Anna caught him on camera feeding this baby a bottle on the ground. So cute! We luv ya Brad!

Ward Beach Party

It has been a really cool summer here in So Cal. The cool days are nice when you are spending them around the house but not so nice when you are having a beach party! Ya, I wore jeans and a sweatshirt. No swim suit. The kids were a little braver than I was. I think it got to about 70 at the beach. The sun came out right as we were leaving. Some members of our ward brought their mothers wheel chair and hooked up the train. McKay took the kids for some rides. I need one of these for the grocery store.
Anna, Brooklynn, and McKade.

Mac with a snack.

Brad was pretty good at the beach. As long as no one was within 3 feet of him when he threw the sand life was good.

This is about as far as the girls got in the FREEZING water.

Mormon Night at Dodger Stadium

My kids have been looking forward to Mormon Night since last Mormon Night. They love the all-you-can-eat food and fun with friends. Our good friends the Sampsons were in town so we got to catch up with them. Brad was not too thrilled about the game. He isn't really into anything where he has to be confined. He wasn't even impressed by the food or treats we brought. Luckily he loves his daddy so he made it through. Oh and he didn't even fall asleep in the car on the way home... at 11 pm. What would I do without Baby Einstein in the car?

The Dodgers lost but I don't even think the kids noticed!
