Haircuts

I got my haircut Monday morning and and soon as the kids saw me they began begging me to have a haircut. Anna has wanted one for a while so I thought why not? By the end of the day I was having total 'haircut remorse' for myself and the kids. Anna in her infinite wisdom proclaimed that 'it doesn't matter mom, it will grow back.'

I think I am officially retiring from cutting hair. Carly's hair kept getting shorter to make it even. Good thing she is still cute.
Oh ya, McKay got his hair cut yesterday too!

Beach Day

It was a GREAT day at the Beach on Saturday! It was almost 100 in Camarillo so we decided we needed to cool down at the beach. We went with our friends the Sampsons and had a fabulous time! The mermaids are a must each time we go to the beach. If we don't do them Anna will ask why we didn't do them.
Mac was soooo good. I was worried he was g0ing to eat a lot of sand and not enjoy himself but after about 10 seconds of being there he climbed on this boogie board and played! He didn't stay on the blanket much and was happy just playing in the sand. He didn't eat hardly any sand and even took a nap after a while. What a guy.

There was a 5 foot drop off from the tide that the kids had a blast playing on. (You can kind of see it behind Carly.) They boogie boarded off of it, ran and jumped off it, and built a hole through it. Who knew a little drop off could provide hours of entertainment?
Anyone who has ever thought Anna was a little wimpy (including me) would have to change their mind after she went boogie boarding. My guess is the water wasn't even 50 degrees. It was SOOOO cold. Your feet were numb in about a minute. She was so brave and did it! We saw a friend of ours with a wet suit who said it was too cold for him to even get in. Go Anna!

After a few minutes of driving everyone was out. I guess that is what a fun day at the beach will do to you! Thanks for coming with us Sampsons!

Skirball

We were able to go to the Noah's Ark exhibit at the Skirball Museum. It was very cool! All the animals were made out of recycled materials. Very creative. The kids could touch and play with everything. I think the best part was that it was free (just on Thursdays.) Helping the animals board the ark.

McKay was a super dad and climbed up the ark with the kids.
Mac was great as usual and loved banging on the crates.
My personal favorite was the porcipines made out of pasta.

Inch worm

McKay got Mac crawling like an inchworm awhile ago. We got lucky because this was the last day he crawled like this. Now he is a full blown crawlin' machine!

Here he is a few weeks later. Not the greatest footage but you get the idea.

Nine months today

So I totally missed the eight months old post - time goes too fast! Mac is now nine months old. He is such a fun baby. He has two teeth, with one on the top coming through. He can crawl, pull himself up, and even make it up a couple of stairs (yikes!) Diaper and clothes changes have become more like wrestling matches and he likes to sit on your lap and throw his head back into your chest as hard as he can - yes it can be slightly painful. He loves lots of foods and can sort of drink through a sippy cup. He LOVES to play underneath the kitchen table. His method of getting there is pretty hilarious. My favorite thing is that he can clap - I have yet to catch it on camera though.

Little ladies

The kids made these lady bug costumes in preschool. They were pretty funny. I had to bribe them to put them on to take a picture (note the cookies in their hands.) They usually put up a fuss if I try to throw anything of theirs away but no one said a word when I took those to the trash.

Carly's straight hair

Carly has been asking me for awhile to straigten her hair and we finally got around to it on Thursday. She absolutely loved and instantly wanted to take a picture for the blog! She looked at herself in the mirror more times than I could count that day. She kept flipping it with her hand as well. So funny. We also straigtened it this morning for church because she was giving her first scripture and prayer in primary. She did a great job and wasn't nervous at all. She never ceases to amaze us and keep us on our toes.

(Another) Ballet Recital

Seems like these things are happening a lot lately! After a few tears here is what we got!

And if you still haven't had enough...

Happy Easter

It was a beautiful Easter in California - over 80 degrees! The kids had a fun day. Happy Easter!

St. Paddy's Day

After much fretting and debating Anna finally decided on her outfit for St. Patrick's Day. She and Carly even went to bed with green pajamas so she wouldn't get pinched in the morning. She was all about the green even wanted to take a picture on the green chair.
